Federal CapTel

CapTel service by Federal Relay is available in all fifty states and District of Columbia, for active Federal employees only - Civilian or Military.

CapTel phones for active Federal employees are available for the agency to purchase on the GSA schedule. Effective December 28, 2007, Federal employees no longer qualify to receive a free CapTel phone.

There are two types of phones that can be purchased from Potomac Technology on the GSA Schedule:

1) CapTel for $352.63 (755-002403)

2) CapTel with USB Port for $443.30 (755-002503)

Note: Both phones have one and two-line capability. For more information on two-line capability, go to "2-Line CapTel Service". Spouse, siblings or children of deceased federal active employees do not qualify to purchase a Federal CapTel phone on their behalf.

Federal employees who wish to purchase a CapTel phone for personal use should go through their state's distribution program. For details, check the availability in your state.

2-Line CapTel Available

2-Line CapTel Service is also available to Federal CapTel users. With 2-Line CapTel:

  • You can turn captions on / off at any point in the conversation
  • Callers dial your number directly (they do not have to call through the Captioning Service first)
